Range Complex: 3,600 Yard Rifle Range.

Range Complex...... 3,600 yard rifle range.
Rifle range:
Our 3,600 yard range consists of steel plates oriented in two directions from a central pad. The north half is set up in 100 yard increments from 200 to 1,000 yards oriented to the northwest. The first 6 plates are 12" gongs while the last three plates at 800, 900 and 1,000 yards are 16" gongs. The north range is not rated for magnum calibers and is limited to .308 Win or smaller.
The south half is oriented to the southeast and consists of 10" gongs between 200-700 yards. Further out there are plates at 1,000, 1,500, 1,760, 2,000 and 2,640 yards, consisting of 24" X 24" plates at 1,500 and 1,760 and 36" X 36" plates at 2,000 and 2,640. The 1,000 yard plate measures 19X30. There are no caliber restrictions for the south range.
ELR Shooters:
These fixed distances are measured from the central pad. However, if you are looking to stretch your shooting even further, it is possible to set up on the north end of the range and add another 880 yards to the distance, making the south targets 3,520 yards or 2 miles. The 2-mile position has an elevated deck for prone shooting and a large concrete bench for seated shooting.
The central pad consists of a concrete pad with sun shade, 14 foot heavy shooting bench and enough deck space for prone shooting.
If you are like most people east of the Great Plains its tough to find a range greater than 200 yards. Practicing at these short distances does not require you to learn how to compensate for wind drift or bullet drop. This is your chance to bring out the big guns, test your shooting skills and learn a lot about distance shooting.

Congratulations to Todd Horner and Travis Nester for being the first marksmen to break the 2 mile mark on our range!
3,643 yards

Pricing, Scheduling and Accommodations:
Pricing:
Range fees are $50 per day per shooter.
Scheduling:
Our intent is to take the hassle and annoyances of going to a public range out of the equation so you can enjoy your shooting time as much as possible. To ensure you get the most out of your range time, we only schedule one group per day on the range.
Best time to come:
Many people book during the summer months when they have time off. However, we have excellent shooting conditions during the fall and most of the winter months. Most of our winter days are warm and sunny with much less wind than in the spring and summer. I do most of my shooting from October through March.
Accommodations:
The Loft is an 1800 sq ft second level flat in downtown Syracuse, Ks over the Black Bison Pub and is 18 miles from the range. The Loft has a king room, queen room and a bunk room with two singles and sleeps 6. The Loft has a spacious living room with pool table and big screen TV, as well as laundry and kitchen facilities. The rate is $125/night for double occupancy with an additional $20/person after two.
Pictures of these facilities can be seen on our "Accommodations" page.
If The Loft is booked we recommend the Trail City B&B in Coolidge, KS. They offer several nicely furnished rental cabins and is only 8 miles from the range. (620) 372-2414.
